On this page, you will find out how many watts a karaoke machine draws.
What is your go-to karaoke song? For me, it’s ‘I Want It That Way’ by the Backstreet Boys. It’s an easy crowd-pleaser and suits my terrible singing voice. If you’re a karaoke lover, you’ve probably got your own machine (or think about getting one.) When you’re hooking it up for your party it’s important to know the power consumption to make sure everything runs smoothly. No one will be impressed if things cut out during the chorus!
Below we will discuss and test karaoke machine wattage, explain how to work it out for yourself, and calculate the total electricity required.

How Many Watts is a Karaoke Machine?
The average karaoke machine uses between 20 and 100 watts.
The exact number depends on the size and model of your karaoke machine. For example, a small tabletop system uses 20W while larger machines can use 100W.
Truth is: it all comes down to size. Bigger systems have larger screens and louder speakers which consume more power. With such a variation in these systems, it’s important to know the specifications of your equipment.
How to Find Out Your Karaoke Machine Wattage
There’s 3 ways you can work out the wattage of a karaoke machine.
- Check Product Specification
The quickest way is to look at the karaoke machine’s specifications. The watts (W) is usually written on a sticker on the base of the appliance. If not, you can check the user manual or the manufacturer’s website for technical details.
- Use a Wattmeter
A wattmeter is brilliant for getting a live wattage reading and tracking total energy usage of any appliance. You can simply plug it into your karaoke machine to get instant information.
I used one to test a karaoke machine which gave a live reading of 74.2W.
- Wattage Formula or Calculator
If you know the amperage and voltage of your karaoke machine you can use this to find the running watts. Simply use the formula Amps x Volts = Watts. Or you can head over to the ‘Watt Calculator’ to work this out.
Karaoke Machine Wattage Examples
Let’s take a look at specific examples of how many watts a karaoke machine draws. Below is a collection of modern karaoke machines with their listed power ratings.
|Karaoke Machine Model||Power Rating (Watts)|

As you can see, the power ratings vary between different karaoke machines. So you should take the time to check your own appliance.
How Much Electricity Does a Karaoke Machine Use?
You can use karaoke machine wattage to work out how much electricity it uses. Plus this can be useful in understanding how much it costs to run your karaoke machine.
A watt (W) is a measurement of power at a single point in time. A watt-hour (Wh) is the total amount of electricity used in an hour. For example, a karaoke machine drawing 50W would use 50Wh when running for an hour.
Happily, electricity bills are recorded in kilowatt-hours (kWh). A kilowatt is simply 1000 watts. So a 50W karaoke machine running for 1 hour uses 0.05kWh.
Let’s say you use your system for 1 hour a week. This means a karaoke machine uses about 50Wh or 0.05kWh electricity a week. That’s 0.215kWh a month and 2.6kWh a year.
That’s a rough electricity cost of $0.40 a year to sing karaoke for 1 hour every week.
Using a Karaoke Machine Off-Grid
If you’re planning to use your karaoke machine in an off-grid situation party in your yard or in an RV, the information above is important. It enables you to pick the correct power products and know how long you can run.
You can either use a power inverter, portable power station, or generator to produce AC electricity.
To make sure everything runs smoothly you should check two things on this equipment – wattage capacity and total energy capacity.
Your power source, like an inverter, should have a wattage capacity of at least 20% more than your karaoke machine. This ensures it will be able to deliver enough power as they are never 100% efficient. To sing your favorite songs, you will need at least 150W power capacity. This should be enough to run most home systems.
Secondly, you need to ensure your energy source, like a battery, has enough energy to run the karaoke machine for the required amount of time. As we already know, it will use about 50Wh electricity per hour. This is the equivalent to 4.16Ah on a 12V battery.
How Many Watts Does a Karaoke Machine Use Summary
I hope you now know how many watts a karaoke machine uses.
Firing up a round of karaoke always gets the party going. There’s nothing better than a good sing along and a laugh. If you’re the host, you won’t want it to cut out halfway through a classic. That’s not going to go down well with your guests. So take the time to check the power consumption and set everything up to avoid disappointment.
